Shirase Glacier, Antarctica

Shirase Glacier, about 9 km wide and 85 km long, is a glacier located in the southwest of Syowa station in Antarctica that flows towards Lutzow-Holm Bay.

It is known to be one of the fast-flowing Antarctic glaciers. ASTER observation extending over a decade clearly reveals the temporal changes such as changes in the crevasses associated with glacial movement, and differences in the rate of flow and pattern of movement between the glacier and the surrounding ice.
