Northern Niedersachsen, Germany

This is the false color image of Northern Niedersachsen with its coastline, located in the Northwestern part of Germany, captured by ASTER/VNIR.

The right and left images above were taken on April 11th 2005 and June 14th 2005 respectively; there exists a gap of 2-month between the dates of the images. The shallow water stretching more than 20 kilometers along the coast is clearly extracted in the image on June 11th.
The river of Elba and Aller, which are seen in the north and south of the images respectively, flow into the Heligoland Bight, a part of the North Sea.
The beach and shallow water between the two rivers have been designated as the Niedersachsen Wadden Sea National Park, which covers the scattered islands of Ost Friesische Inseln.
