ASTER VNIR L1B

Cape of Good Hope is located in the southwestern part of the Cape Province of the Republic of South Africa. It is about 50km south of Cape Town. The Cape has been the turning point for ships sailing between the South Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean. The most southern point of the African Continent is Cape Agulhas towards the southeast of the Cape of Good Hope.

The Cape of Good Hope has been the passing point for the sea route to India since a Portuguese navigator B. Diaz first discovered and sailed around the Cape in 1488 and Vasco da Gama rounded the Cape on his way to India in 1497.
