GREAT DYKE, ZIMBABWE

 This image shows the southern Zimbabwe Craton and the Great Dyke, one of the most remarkable intrusive bodies in the world, which was captured by ASTER VNIR on 2000.10.16.

 The Dyke with a width of 3 - 12 km, runs neraly in the NNE-SSW direction about 530km across Zimbabwe.

 The Dyke is very rich in platinum and chromium deposits, and these minerals support the Zimbabwe's economy.
